Affordable dermatologist developed sun and skincare brand, Altruist, developed by Dr Andrew Birnie, has secured an exciting listing in 261 Sainsbury’s Beauty aisles in its larger stores across the UK.
The stores will stock four SKUs including Altruist’s best-selling 100ml SPF 50 cream £5.25, 200ml SPF 30 cream £5.75, 50ml SPF 50 Face Fluid £10.75 and 250ml Family Sunspray £12.25, offering a range of high quality suncare for the whole family.
This exciting Sainsbury’s launch is the next step on Dr Birnie and the Altruist team’s mission to provide affordable, accessible sun protection, as a direct response to the rise in skin cancer in the UK and around the world.
Dr Birnie commented: “I see and treat skin cancer patients every day and the Altruist range was developed to help combat the increased incidence of skin cancer. I wanted to develop a low cost, high quality, range of products that removed the barriers to using SPF sun protection. We know that people use too little sunscreen because it is expensive, so we keep our prices as low as possible. Since launch we have become the UK’s biggest online sunscreen brand and this news will help even more people access our products and protect themselves from sun damage.”

Launched as a not-for-profit in 2015, the Altruist range is designed to offer affordable skincare for everyone. The extensive SPF range also includes SPF 50 Invisible Spray, SPF 50 and SPF 30 Face Fluid and SPF 50 Anti-redness and Pigmentation. In addition, Altruist offers accessible, high quality, skincare with Altruist Dry Skin Repair Cream, Altruist Moisturising Fluid 0.5% Hyaluronic Acid, Altruist Cleansing Foam 2% Salicyclic Acid, Altruist Hand Repair Cream with 10% Urea and Altruist Body Lotion with 6% Urea.
