Igloo is official delivery partner to Magic Breakfast and every day delivers healthy breakfasts to schools as far apart as Torquay in Devon and Carlisle in Cumbria.

In an average week Igloo delivers to Magic Breakfast partner schools:

• 2,220 family boxes of cereal

• Over 50,000 bagels

• 2,000 servings of porridge

Carmel McConnell MBE, Founder and Chief Executive of Magic Breakfast, said: “More than 23,500 hungry school children receive a nutritious breakfast each day as essential fuel for learning thanks, in no small part, to our partnership with Igloo.

“We are so grateful for all Igloo’s help and for their reliable service delivering food to our 480 partner schools so that the pupils there can make the most of their morning lessons”.

Alistair Turner, Chief Executive of Igloo, said: “Magic Breakfast began its partnership with Igloo in 2010 and since then we have delivered nutritional breakfasts for thousands of school children.

“Our new fleet of vans will enable us to continue to support customers such as Magic Breakfast as demand for its services expands and as more tailored delivery solutions are required.”

Fuel for learning

Research for Magic Breakfast among head teachers, school business managers and breakfast club coordinators at 345 partner schools revealed the positive impact that breakfast has on pupils including:

• Improved educational attainment (84%)

• Increased energy levels and alertness (96%)

• Improved concentration (95%)

The Forest Academy in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, started providing healthy ‘magic breakfasts’ to pupils in October 2014. It has a large breakfast club with at least 140 children attending each day.

In 2015, the school achieved a 50% increase in children achieving Level 4 in Year 6 in just one academic year.

This improvement made The Forest Academy the ‘Most Improved School’ in the region for 2015 and among the Top 10 Most Improved Schools in the country.

Head of School, Mrs Sam Bailey, believes the provision of healthy breakfasts and related booster activities have played a significant role in this achievement.
