The Children’s Hospital in Sheffield has received a cheque for £1,000 from iconic meat brand SPAM® Chopped Pork and Ham, after fans showed their appreciation of the meat during the annual SPAM® Appreciation Week in early March.
The Appreciation Week competition saw fans of the iconic meat, from all over the UK, showing off their creativity and love for SPAM® Products with videos, poems and pictures. Each entry automatically raised £1 for The Children’s Hospital and five lucky winners received a special breakfast experience, including brunching at The Shard and a sunrise breakfast with big cats at a safari park.
It’s not the first time SPAM™ Fans have raised money for the charity, with a further £230 raised following a special breakfast event with Henderson’s Relish in Sheffield last October, as part of the brand’s city-wide campaign. Locals enjoyed a SPAMTASTIC™ breakfast and all proceeds were donated to The Children’s Hospital.
Emma Dove, Corporate Fundraiser at The Children’s Hospital commented: “We would like to thank SPAM® Brand and all its fans for their valuable support. Funds raised will go towards our ‘Make It Better’ appeal which aims to match world class facilities with the existing care, creating the best possible environment for children to get better faster. The money raised will make such a difference to patients and their families, not only in Sheffield but all over the UK.”
A spokesperson for SPAM® Chopped Pork and Ham also commented: “We’ve had an excellent response from fans across the country, who have really risen to the challenge and shown their creativity to raise such a good amount for our chosen charity, The Children’s Hospital.” They continued: “We hope to build on our support for the hospital in future campaigns.”
