Ultrathon was developed by 3M for the military. It features Advanced Time Release Protection which gives the user a balanced mix between concentration of DEET and long lasting protection. This technology means the DEET ingredient is slower to evaporate and provides protection after others have dissipated – up to 12 hours of protection against mosquitoes. With the added benefit of being splash and sweat resistant, the need for re-application is reduced.
The UK consumer launch of Ultrathon Insect Repellent is being spearheaded by outdoor survival expert and TV star, Ray Mears. The campaign includes a new website and targeted PR and advertising.
Richard Dear, Group Brand Manager at 3M, says: “Ultrathon has already built up a loyal following in the UK but these fans, including Ray Mears himself, have, until now, only been able to order product from specialist outlets, via the US.
“We’re excited to be launching Ultrathon to the UK mass market. It offers long lasting protection from all manner of insects, from mosquitoes to midges, fleas, gnats, ticks and sand flies. This means it is ideal for use in the UK, as well as abroad and makes it a must stock item for retailers ahead of the summer season.”
The Ultrathon range is available in an eye catching 60ml lotion or a convenient 125ml spray. It comes in two formulas, 25 per cent DEET content for day-long protection of up to 8 hours or 34 per cent DEET content for extended protection of up to 12 hours.
