All these companies and many more, both large and small, have sent delegates to the National Flexible Film & Print Technical Training Workshops.

To date, over 100 Food Companies have sent over 300 delegates to these workshops all of whom have been updated on the latest developments for improving pack performance, reducing packaging costs and reducing packaging waste by utilizing the latest improvements in film and print technology.

These workshops were initially devised for National Flexible internal staff training and developing their technical knowledge. On some occasions customers’ staff, packaging technologists, or buyers, would attend. However such was their enthusiasm for the content that the workshops soon became a regular vehicle for development and training of customers’ staff at every level, from Machine Operators, Engineers, Packaging Buyers, Packaging Technologists and even Directors.

As the range of delegates has grown so has the workshops content which now incorporates sections on:-

• Film Selections & Properties

• Pack Design & Packaging Minimalisation

• Laminates Vs Co-Extrusion

• Environmental Packaging

• Print pre-press & Origination

• Flexo Vs Gravure Vs Digital

• Print Machinery types & applications

• Developments in Pouches & Doy Packs.

• Packaging Machinery

• Graphic Design for Packaging

Along With Many of the Current Trends for Future Developments in Flexibles

Each subject is covered in sufficient detail to give each delegate an insight into the opportunities available to use modern print technology and/or the latest film and laminates to improve on many of the existing packaging practices. Where appropriate a more in depth investigation of film usage is undertaken in the customers’ factories. This is done by carrying out a complete packaging audit which forms part of an in depth free comprehensive “Film & Print Consultancy Service”. It’s truly remarkable that many companies continue to use the same packaging film year after year despite the new films constantly being developed.

To date the most successful audit undertaken has saved the recipient business over £350K per annum in film and print costs. Whilst another company reduced their film usage (and waste) by over 40 tonnes and saved around £100K in just one factory.

The response to these workshops has been exceptional to the point where delegates from companies other than National Flexible customers now attend for a nominal £150 a day fee.

The Workshops each have 6-8 delegates and take place at regular 4-6 week intervals.  Companies interested in booking delegates on a workshop should contact Dave Daniels, Technical Director on 07785 293231.

“Nice team, very friendly and helpful – That was basically my whole degree course compressed within one day!” Shahin Rastizadeh, Packaging Development Technologist – Premier Foods.
