Double Dry-Hopped Pale Ale ‘Buttercup’ Launched
Fresh from its IPA scooping Gold and Country Award Winner in the World Beer Awards, Nirvana has introduced ‘Buttercup’ – a double dry-hopped pale ale and its second limited edition beer of 2025.
Buttercup (0.5% ABV) is available in 330ml cans and follows the release earlier this year of ‘Blossom’, a hazy pale ale.
Both beers’ packaging features artwork by local Leyton artist, Carl Stimpson and is inspired by the cult ‘Powerpuff Girls’ cartoon series.
Double dry-hopping intensifies a beer’s hop flavour and aroma – with one lot of hops added during early fermentation, then another batch later on.
The technique has created a beer that Nirvana describes as having a ‘bold aroma’ and ‘bursting with tropical flavour’ – with peach, lychee and citrus notes. The brewery worked with hop innovators ‘TNS’ to select the perfect combination of four types for Buttercup.
Becky Kean, Nirvana’s founder and brand ambassador said:
“We’ve settled on a core range of beers that cover all the most popular styles – and successfully so, given recent awards such as the gold for our IPA. However, with developments in both yeasts and hops for low/no brewing and the work being done by the likes of TNS, there’s always room for some ‘specials’.”
Nirvana Buttercup DDH Pale Ale, 0.5% ABV. RRP £2.50/330ml can.
