john-noonan-marketer-of-the-year-2009Flahavan’s, Ireland’s leading oats producer, are creating quite a stir. John Noonan, Sales and Marketing Director was announced Marketer of the Year at the All Ireland Marketing Awards. The award is the definitive industry accolade that recognises the success of Irish marketing professionals in a highly competitive business environment.

This is the second time in a month that Flahavan’s has triumphed – the company was also awarded the overall Exporter of The Year at the Irish Export Industry Awards at the end of November.  Flahavan’s was praised for its growth in the UK market since its launch in 2003 and for its continued strong focus on research and its ability to identify customer trends. The Flahavan’s brands which include Irish Porridge Oats, Organic Porridge Oats and Jumbo Porridge Oats and it’s Microwaveable Quick Oats range in a drum and portable porridge tubs are available through retailers such as Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, and Wholefoods.

Noonan, joined the company in 1997 and has overseen the successful, strategic repositioning of the brand in the Irish breakfast cereals market.  He commented, “We are absolutely delighted here at Flahavan’s, we have over fifty employees, not to mention the farmers who also play a big part in our business, and winning Exporter Of The Year is a testament all of the team’s hard work.”

When asked about his personal achievement he said John said, “I am greatly honoured to have received this prestigious award on behalf of Flahavan’s and all of its employees and staff. The last ten years has been an exciting time for all at Flahavan’s. We have seen a dramatic transformation in the company, brand portfolio and our relationship with consumers. The ability to deliver great food brands to market has to be about teamwork and the people that are involved from the production floor through to finance, logistics, sales and marketing. In smaller sized  companies you especially need people with enthusiasm and a flexible approach. Plans can set direction but ultimately the  endeavor succeeds or fails because of the people involved.”
