Birley Manufacturing’s involvement with Sainsbury’s has been boosted by a significant order to supply new Travel Money kiosks to the supermarket chain. Birley is signed up to supply a number of Sainsbury’s Travel Money kiosks as part of a rolling programme to stores throughout the country, with some stores already showcasing the new units. The kiosks allow customers to purchase foreign currency in store.
Birley has worked with Sainsbury’s for 15 years, during which time it has supplied customer service counters, Deli and Bakery back wall equipment and confectionary, news and tobacco kiosks to the supermarket.
The reaction to the new kiosks from Sainsbury’s staff has been very positive, as the new style of kiosks makes it much easier for supermarket staff to interact with customers. Nick Hawkins, manager of Sainsbury’s Crystal Peaks store in Sheffield, said: “We’ve had a lot of good feedback from customers using the Travel Money kiosk so far. The open design makes it easy for staff to talk to customers so they get the best service possible, and the safety features are excellent”.
Steve English, MD of Birley Manufacturing, commented: “We are delighted to be continuing our association with Sainsbury’s. This is an important contract win for us, and we’re pleased to be putting our experience in the retail environment to good use on this project.”
Birley Manufacturing also specialises in providing bespoke metalwork and joinery for rail, retail, industrial, hospital and leisure interiors.
