Belhaven Brewery has launched its award-winning Belhaven Black Scottish Stout in cans across more than 1,000 Lidl stores nationwide, offering consumers more ways to enjoy one of Scotland’s best-loved beers at home.
Belhaven Black, renowned for its rich roasted malt character, smooth finish, and true Scottish heritage, has long held a loyal following in pubs across Scotland. Now, with the introduction of the 440ml can format at Lidl, consumers will have more accessibility to the award-winning stout at a time when the style is increasing in popularity.
The Scottish stout underwent a brand review in 2024, refreshing the dark colour palette inspired by the stout’s chocolate and coffee notes. The updated design features swirling chimney motifs that mirror the smooth movement of the rich liquid as it settles in the glass and features the iconic chimneys of Belhaven Brewery.
This nationwide rollout marks an important moment for the brewery, expanding Belhaven Black’s availability beyond its traditional heartland and bringing a true Scottish stout to households across the UK.
Suzie Carlaw, Marketing Manager for Belhaven Brewery, said: “We’re thrilled to be bringing Belhaven Black to Lidl stores across the country. This launch means that more people than ever can enjoy a genuinely Scottish stout, whether they’re discovering it for the first time or returning to an old favourite. Making Belhaven Black available in over 1,000 stores is a huge milestone and reflects the growing love for quality Scottish beers and gives keen stout drinkers an alternative that they can source easily.”
Belhaven Black’s entry into Lidl follows a period of continued growth for the brewery, as it continues to expand its portfolio and bring Scottish brewing to new audiences. The new nitro-canned format uses less plastic than the former widget packaging and, when using a hard-pour method, offers the same depth of flavour and smoothness Belhaven Black is known for.
