Asda today confirmed that pay rates for retail colleagues will increase to £13.10 per hour effective from 5th July.

All 110,000 hourly-paid colleagues in Asda Retail and Asda Express will receive a 4% above-inflation pay rise in two stages, with rates moving to £12.71 in April and £13.10 in July.

Pay rates for colleagues working at stores inside the M25 will increase to £13.93 per hour in April and £14.35 per hour from July.

This latest award represents an investment of £80m and takes the total amount Asda has invested in retail pay since its acquisition by TDR Capital and the Issa brothers in 2021 to £575m. Over that period, hourly rates have increased by c40%, from £9.36 to £13.10.

James Goodman, Asda’s Chief People Officer, said: “Our store-based colleagues are at the core of our business and the role they play serving customers is central to our Formula for Growth turnaround plan. I’m pleased we’ve been able to give them an above-inflation pay award and invest in this way.  I’d also like to thank them for their continued hard work and commitment to making Asda better every day.”
