Manchester bakery, Sheldon’s, has more than doubled the volumes it supplies to Aldi over the last decade, with the family-owned business now investing in a new factory to support future growth.

Based in Openshaw, Sheldon’s has supplied Aldi for 15 years and today provides an extensive range of bread rolls to stores across the UK.

Sustained growth in demand has supported investment across the business, including an expanded workforce, a larger delivery fleet and plans for a new factory. The new facility is expected to become operational by early 2028 and will provide additional capacity to support future growth.

Despite its growth, Sheldon’s remains family-owned and continues to operate from Manchester, where it has been based for more than 75 years.

Sarah Sheldon, Director at Sheldon’s, said: “We’re incredibly proud to have supplied Aldi for more than 15 years.

“The partnership has helped us continue investing in our people, products and operations while remaining true to our family business values. As we look ahead to the next chapter of growth, we’re excited to continue building on that success together.”

Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, said: “Sheldon’s is a fantastic example of the family-owned British businesses we are always so proud to work with.

“From its roots in Manchester to its plans for future expansion, the business has gone from strength to strength. We’re proud to support that journey and bring its products to Aldi customers across the country.”
