• Asda secures a record-breaking 460 wine awards across the industry’s three most prestigious competitions – more than any other UK supermarket
  • The retailer has achieved its strongest performance ever with 13 Gold medals and two major trophies
  • Asda’s award-winning range continues to demonstrate exceptional quality at outstanding value, with gold-awarded wines starting from just £4.70

Asda has maintained its position as the UK’s most awarded supermarket for wine after achieving a record-breaking 460 awards across the three major international wine competitions in 2026.

The retailer’s latest success marks its strongest performance ever, improving on its previous record set in 2025 and securing more awards than any other UK supermarket. Across the prestigious International Wine Challenge (IWC), International Wine & Spirits Competition (IWSC) and Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA), Asda received an impressive 460 accolades, including 13 Gold medals, 118 Silver medals, 286 Bronze medals and 43 Commended awards.

The results represent significant year-on-year growth across every major category, with Gold awards increasing by 44%, Silver awards rising by 28%, Bronze awards up 18%, and total awards increasing by 16% compared to last year’s total of 395. This achievement means Asda once again outperformed every major UK supermarket competitor, receiving more than double the total achieved by M&S, and four times more than Sainsbury’s and Waitrose, cementing its position as the UK’s most awarded supermarket for wine.

Importantly, the results reflect the breadth and consistency of quality throughout Asda’s wine range. While the retailer’s 13 Gold medals highlight standout wines, the impressive 118 Silver awards demonstrate exceptional quality across a wide selection of wines available to customers at a range of price points.

Among the standout performers this year was the Exceptional Noble Riesling, Canterbury, New Zealand 2017, which achieved a remarkable 96 points from Decanter and was recognised as a Top Value Gold winner. The accolade places it among the very best value wines entered into competition and highlights Asda’s commitment to offering world-class wines at accessible prices. The bottle will be available from Asda later this year.

Asda’s other gold-awarded wines by Decanter include:

Clive Donaldson, Senior Manager for Wine Sourcing at Asda, said: “To achieve our highest-ever number of wine awards and once again be recognised as the most awarded supermarket for wine is a fantastic accolade for our wine team and supplier partners. These awards are particularly meaningful because they are judged blind by some of the world’s leading wine experts, meaning every accolade is based purely on the quality of what’s in the bottle.

“While we’re incredibly proud of our 13 Gold medal-winning wines, it’s the breadth of our success that is especially exciting and a testament to our hard-work and commitment to providing the best quality wines we can at the best prices. Receiving 118 Silver medals and hundreds of additional awards demonstrates the strength and consistency of our range across all styles, regions and price points. Our aim is always to make exceptional wine accessible to everyone, and these results show customers don’t need to spend a fortune to enjoy wines that are recognised among the very best in the industry.

“With a record-breaking 460 awards now across our range this year, customers can shop with confidence knowing they’re choosing wines that have been independently recognised for their outstanding quality and value.”
