- Bridor expands its savoury portfolio with two new Delices: Goat’s Cheese & Tomato and Feta & Spinach
- The manufacturer has also launched a savoury Pesto Swirl
Bridor, the leading manufacturer of premium frozen bakery products, has launched three new Mediterranean-inspired savoury pastries to its portfolio: Goat’s Cheese & Tomato Delice, Feta & Spinach Delice and Pesto Swirl (all 100g).
The trio has been developed to help cafés, coffee shops, contract caterers and hotels respond to the growing consumer demand for premium savoury snacks with authentic, rich Mediterranean flavours. Bridor research shows that tomatoes, cheese and pesto are among the top flavours Europeans look for when purchasing savoury snacks, with 51% interested in tomato, 38% in feta and 36% in pesto[1].
The new range has been created around simple, recognisable ingredients from southern Europe that are synonymous with freshness. When purchasing savoury puff pastries, 72% of European consumers say they appreciate vegetarian recipes featuring cheese and vegetables[2], while 87% enjoy cheese-filled puff pastries[3].
The products also respond to the importance of visual impact in the food-to-go sector. All three launches feature appealing, generous fillings and an eye-catching seeded or herb topping to maximise standout in the cabinet and drive impulse purchases, tapping into insight that 80% of European consumers believe toppings such as seeds, grated cheese or herbs make savoury puff pastries more attractive and appetising[4].
Erwan Inizan, Northern Europe Sales Director at Bridor, said: “We are seeing strong momentum behind savoury pastries, which are the second fastest growing food-to-go type by volume in the UK[5]. We know that operators are looking for convenient and appealing products that work from breakfast through to late afternoon and that also meet consumers’ appetite for vegetarian and cheese-based treats. By bringing together proven Mediterranean flavour combinations with a robust ready to bake format, we are giving operators a simple way to premiumise their savoury offer and capture sales from early morning to late afternoon.”
Goat’s Cheese & Tomato Delice pairs the freshness of tomato with the intensity of goat’s cheese. The Delice is made with a leavened puff pastry for a very crispy, golden crust and a generous 28% filling packed with goat’s cheese and a slow cooked tomato sauce with basil, onions and garlic. A topping of crushed pumpkin seeds adds crunch, colour and a gourmet finish.
Feta & Spinach Delice features a generous 28% filling that combines the intensity of feta with the freshness of spinach for a flavour profile that is widely recognised and much loved. Brown and yellow flax seeds on top give extra texture and a wholesome, artisanal look.
Pesto Swirl is a buttery puff pastry spiral with an indulgent 28% filling of cheese and basil pesto, delivering the intense herb and cheese notes consumers associate with Mediterranean cuisine. The golden spiral format makes it ideal as a centreplate item or a premium snack. The Pesto Swirl is cheese based but not suitable for vegetarian diets, as it contains Parmesan made with animal rennet.
