nākd., a top 10 cereal bar brand in the UK[2], is bringing a burst of fruity flavour to healthier snacking with the launch of nākd. Protein Cherry Bars — a bold new variant designed to attract new shoppers into the category. The launch joins the brand’s existing trio of natural protein bars.
The new product lands at a time when demand for functional health bars is at an all-time high[3], with shoppers on the lookout for convenient, on-the-go formats to boost their protein intake. However, as demand grows, so do shopper expectations, who are seeking fresh flavours and products that stand out from the chocolate and caramel-led options currently dominating the shelf.
nākd. Protein Cherry Bars meet this demand, by adding a uniquely fruity twist to the protein bars currently on offer. As with the rest of the brand’s range, the new product is made with 100% natural ingredients and is cold pressed, with cherry delivering a distinctive yet familiar taste.
With 6g of plant-based protein and no added sugar, the bar is naturally HFSS compliant and delivers on taste, while offering functional benefits, bridging everyday snacking with protein-led nutrition.
The launch builds on strong momentum behind nākd., the UK’s seventh largest cereal bar brand, worth £40.8m and growing +9.6% year on year[4]. At the heart of this success, nākd. Protein has quickly established itself as a key growth driver, generating over £9.6m RSV and up +25% year on year[5], reinforcing its highly incremental role within the healthier snacking and cereal bar fixture.
The new Cherry flavour joins the range’s much-loved line-up — including Cocoa Hazelnut, Peanut Butter and Caramel — giving shoppers even more delicious ways to add plant-based protein to everyday snacking.
Jo Agnew, Marketing Director at Lotus Natural Foods, comments: “Protein has become part of everyday snacking for millions of people, and as the category matures, expectations are changing. Shoppers no longer want function alone — they’re after snacks that deliver great taste, feel natural and fit easily into their busy lives. With HFSS continuing to shape decisions at shelf, there’s a growing demand for options made with natural ingredients and less processing, and that’s exactly where nākd. really delivers – and always has.
“With so much of the fixture focused on chocolate and caramel flavours, there’s clear appetite for something a little different. Cherry is the perfect next step — it’s a flavour shoppers already love, it’s on trend, and it brings a lighter, fruity option into the range.
“By combining great taste with plant-based protein and simple, natural ingredients, nākd. Protein Cherry Bars help make healthier snacking an easy, everyday choice. It allows us to bring new shoppers into the protein category, while giving retailers a fresh way to tap into the growing demand for Better For You snacking.”
The launch of nākd. Protein Cherry Bars will be supported by PR, social and influencer activity, designed to build awareness, spark excitement and drive trial.
The new nākd. Protein Cherry Bars will launch first into Sainsbury’s from 11th February 2026, available as a 45g single bar (RRP £1.38) and a 3 x 45g multipack (RRP £3.30).
