Southern Co-op has launched a new partnership with Deliveroo across 139 stores, bringing its much-loved products direct to doors across the South of England, as on demand grocery services continue to prove popular with busy Brits.

Customers within a 2km radius of the participating Southern Co-op stores, including Guildford, Wimbledon, and Winchester, will be able to choose from up to 6,500 product lines, from everyday essentials, through to specially selected locally sourced brands which are unique to each store.

Once customers place an order through the Deliveroo app, products are picked and packed by Southern Co-op colleagues before being delivered by Deliveroo’s network of riders in as little as 20 minutes.

The partnership has been introduced in line with the growing popularity of on-demand groceries from consumers, whether they are looking for convenient solutions to fit into their busy lives, aren’t able to easily access stores in person or need a quick fix – from a last-minute family dinner to the inevitable items forgotten from the trolley.

Simon Eastwood, Chief Operating Officer at Southern Co-op, said: “We pride ourselves on listening to our members and customers in the local communities we serve, and this is our next step in giving them more, direct to their door.

“From household essentials to Friday night favourites, this partnership makes it easier than ever for people across the South of England to access our products, including those who may not be able to physically visit a store or families who are juggling busy schedules.

“With the preference for on-demand groceries showing no signs of slowing down, we’re pleased to give our customers more choice in how they want to shop with us and look forward to expanding this in the near future with six more stores due to join the partnership in due course.”

Suzy McClintock, at Deliveroo said: “We’re delighted to welcome Southern Co-op to Deliveroo. This significant partnership dramatically expands choice for our grocery customers across the South of England. We know that more than ever our customers value speed and convenience, and this partnership gives them access to groceries delivered straight to their door in as little as 20 minutes.”

The new partnership reflects Southern Co-op’s strategic focus on expanding into the growing demand for bringing fresh, on-the-go food offerings to high-footfall locations with speed, quality and convenience.
