Bakers Basco, the membership scheme set up by Allied Bakeries, Fine Lady Bakeries, Frank Roberts & Sons, Hovis and Warburtons to manage an industry wide bakery equipment solution has recruited Richard Morrice to head up its investigations team in Scotland as it continues to expand their operations in other territories.

Morrice joins Bakers Basco from a previous investigatory role in the public sector and will oversee operations across Scotland in a dual capacity, working between investigations and operations while reporting to the Assistant Investigations Manager. With more than 20 years’ experience in investigative work, his career also includes two years as an Insurance Claims Adjuster and seven years in Retail Management.

In his role as Investigations Officer Morrice will be responsible for monitoring areas of loss of Basco equipment within the supply chain within a designated geographical area aimed at ensuring Omega equipment usage is being correctly recorded and that no abuse of Omega equipment is taking place.

Commenting on the appointment, Bakers Basco’s national Investigations manager, Stacey Brown said: “We are delighted to welcome Richard to our investigations team and I have no doubt that he is the right person we can entrust to tackle the ongoing problem of equipment misuse and loss. Richard has just the right background in complex investigations to be able to bring the perfect skill set to the team”.

Morrice’s important role will include conducting detailed usage audits for members of the Basco scheme, investigation of poor equipment returns, developing strong working relationships with key personnel at each customer/third party site. Surveillance and gathering evidence with convertors including scrap yards, re-cyclers and re-processors. One of the major responsibilities of the role will be retail store visits to determine the correct use of Omega equipment.
