Third expression from Salford Rum is added after becoming an instant sell out with consumers

A Honey Rum from The Salford Rum Company has been added to the Ten Locks portfolio – after becoming an instant hit with consumers due to its sweet, smooth flavour profile.

Salford Rum’s original golden spiced rum and Dark Spice were two of the very first liquids to be brought into Ten Lock’s range of conscious, progressive drinks when the company launched in 2020. Also born in Greater Manchester and operating out of Irlam, Salford, Ten Locks has already secured retail listings for the Dark Spice which is now available in regional Co-op and Morrisons stores, as well as on-trade listings for both expressions.

Its entry into the Ten Locks portfolio means that the Honey Rum is now widely available to the UK on and off trade; including high street chains and independent and specialist drinks stores through to high-end bars and hospitality venues.

The Honey Rum was first created as a limited online edition for Salford Rum’s e-commerce website, but after all batches sold out within minutes, Salford Rum added the third expression to its core range on a permanent basis.

Becky Davies, who heads up Ten Locks, commented: “Salford Rum was one of our first brands that we selected for our portfolio because of firm feet in the community plus its clear potential and appeal at a national level. On top of this, we are, of course, keen to support businesses close to home and Ten Locks proudly share the same hometown.

“We’ve seen the growth in rum slow down slightly, but Salford Rum is bucking the trend; its Honey Rum sold out multiple times incredibly fast.

“It’s a true consumer favourite that catches eyes on shelf and on bar bars. The trade can benefit from the extra profile The Salford Rum Company will receive in the coming months as it opens its first on trade premises in Manchester and continues to go from strength to strength.”

James Harrison, co-founder of The Salford Rum Company, said: “When we first launched the Honey Rum online as a limited edition, it created such a buzz that all bottles sold out in around four minutes. On top of that, the feedback from consumers buying from the website has been absolutely incredible.

“The Rum – like everything we do – is linked to our roots. It uses sustainable local honey from rescued bees from a producer nearby in Salford, a city that has a rich industrial history because of its dockyard that received the very first shipments of fruits and spices from the Caribbean back in the 1800s – is distilled locally and distributed by our neighbours in Irlam. We’re looking forward to further expanding our footprint with Salford Honey Rum in the months ahead.”

Made with a single origin pot and column distilled rum that is blended and bottled under two miles from the famous docks using real Salford local honey, the rum is gloriously smooth with natural sweet and floral notes, which – when coupled with the deep intensity of the rum – creates a well-balanced flavour with notes of honeycomb, caramel and butterscotch.

Salford Honey Rum is perfect served over ice on its own, or as a new twist on classic cocktails.

The rum comes in an eye-catching black ceramic bottle with an intricate rose-gold map of Salford by local artist, Dave Draws, making it an enviable addition to any supermarket shelf or back bar.
