The Griffin Brewery in Chiswick – now part of the Asahi group – has unveiled the release of its latest iteration of the iconic Fuller’s Vintage Ale series.
Having provided beer drinkers with an exclusive opportunity to sample the latest Vintage Ale at The Great British Beer Festival in August, the 23rd edition in the famous Vintage Ale series has been officially released for general purchase. The 8.5% ABV Fuller’s Vintage Ale 2019 is now available in 500ml bottles from selected Waitrose stores and via the brewer’s online store as well as the brewery shop at Fuller’s Chiswick home – which has been brewing quality cask and bottled ale for generations.
Brewed annually, Fuller’s Vintage Ale is the most coveted beer to leave the Griffin Brewery, and each Vintage Ale recipe is entirely unique. The latest 2019 variant takes its influence from New Zealand’s South Island, with Wai-Iti hops grown on the New Zealand Canterbury plains adding notes of toasted bread and honey to the brew. These notes appear alongside herby, pine and earthy flavours, derived from the combination of classic hops Target, Goldings, Challenger and Nothdown.
Staying true to it’s 170-year heritage, the brew also contains Fullers’ own famous yeast, giving the liquid its familiar hints of orange marmalade.
Known for its complexity and depth, one of the signatures of the collectable Vintage Ales range is that each bottle has a unique number printed on its label to signify the limited production run.
The 2019 Fuller’s Vintage Ale is available from November 2019, at an RRP of £6.00.
