Hormel Foods has announced that filming has started on a new UK TV advertising campaign for its famous SPAM® Chopped Pork and Ham brand. The new campaign, devised by London based creative agency Underground BLC and produced/directed by Caboose, is set to launch SPAM® Chopped Pork and Ham in new formats, increasing awareness amongst a younger and wider audience, and positioning as ideal for contemporary meal occasions both in and out of the home.
To be filmed at Shepperton Studios in Middlesex, the new advertising will supersede the successful ‘SPAM™ Up’ campaign which ran for seven consecutive years. The new production is based around the strapline ‘Hammier than Ham’, with a subtle hint of slapstick humour and a specially designed Shakespearian film set.
Ant Phillips, Head of Copy at Underground BLC, commented: “SPAM® is a fun brand with a great British heritage. ‘Hammier than Ham’ is not only a way to describe the unique taste of SPAM® Chopped Pork and Ham, it’s also a great vehicle to celebrate the distinct British brand of humour epitomised by the ‘Carry On’ style of comedy.”
The new TV campaign is due to air for the first time in late June.
