The world’s largest cheese show, which this year is celebrating 114 years of judging the best of UK and international cheeses, saw 3,230 entries from 24 countries across the 300 competition classes, with the winners selected by a panel of 140 judges, all experts in the dairy industry.
Kaltbach Le Gruyere AOC from the Villarimboud Dairy was chosen from over 30 entrees to be awarded top honours in the highly prestigious Speciality Cheese category for top Single Speciality Cheese, produced outside the UK.
Kaltbach Le Gruyere AOC from the Le Mouret Dairy took top Cheese made with Unpasteurised Milk, and Emmi’s Le Gruyere AOC Slices won Best Sliced Cheese produced outside of the UK.
Emmi’s Kaltbach Cave Aged Le Gruyere AOC AOC spends 12 months stored deep underground in carefully controlled conditions to enable it to develop to gourmet perfection. This smooth, raw-milk classic has a rustic rind and a rich and spicy flavour that develops into a sweet tangy caramel finish.
Emmi also scooped a further three awards:
• Silver for Piz Beaver in the Organic Speciality Cheese category
• Bronze in the Swiss Cheese category for Kaltbach Le Gruyere AOC produced in the Lignieres Dairy
• Bronze for Emmi Emmentaler Slices in the non-UK Sliced Cheese category
