Reinforcing its position as a global designer and manufacturer of high performance coding and marking equipment, Allen Coding Systems – a division of ITW – has secured a massive multi-million pound order to supply and install TP4000 thermal transfer printers at major coffee manufacturer, Dongsuh Group in South Korea.
Following new legislation requiring date coding on all sizes of packaged food products, the Korea wide producer of well-known coffee brands such as Maxwell House and Maxim, has ordered 128 of Allen Coding’s five-head multilane printers to cope with the new government initiative.
Dongsuh required printers to apply dates, real time traceability codes and machine identity. Allen Coding provides a unique, clean, fast and efficient alternative to other coding methods, and the company chose the TP4000 option to provide permanent, scratch and rub resistant print, oriented in line with the packaging artwork.
The Dongsuh order, which is being delivered in three parts, the first having been successfully installed in November, followed Allen’s provision of a successful trial machine and initial installation support and training.
The state-of-the-art TP4000, a world first for ITW, and designed to meet the most demanding production requirements, operates at high speeds, allowing the coffee manufacturer to code up to 600 sachets per minute.
The single modular unit can be integrated on to all types of intermittent-motion packaging equipment, including horizontal form-fill-seal, over-wrapping, bagging, thermoforming and blister pack lines, and boasts quick message changes, easy set-up and minimal maintenance.
Its programmable ribbon save feature and three microprocessors ensure that the thermal printer is both economical and efficient, while the self-contained operating handset and easy-to-use operating system make it very user friendly.
With up to six 106mm or 52mm printheads offering uniform print consistency at 300dpi and fast ribbon changeover, high quality printing is guaranteed.
Phil Thomas, International Sales & Marketing Manager at Allen Coding, says: “This order is a huge coup for us, particularly in the current economic climate. We believe it’s down to the fact that the TP4000 stands head and shoulders above any alternative machine on the market, combined with the hard work and commitment of the sales & engineering teams at Allen to provide the right solution for this customer.”
