Investment and innovation help Verco achieve record output
Verco, one of the UK's leading manufacturers of refrigerated cabinets for supermarkets and convenience stores, has announced an increase in output of more than 40%. The company says the increase is due to significant investment in production equipment and the continued success of both glass-door and open-chill ranges. Sales director Colin Jones explains that investment has enabled Verco to create a more flexible manufacturing system capable of producing multiple cabinet ranges.
"The combination of fully-automated punching, CNC bending and automated paint spray equipment has enabled us to rationalise the number of components needed to build cabinets, reduce the time spent on manual fixing operations, and produce and stock modular components such as fully painted panels and shelves". He explains.
Product innovation is the other major contributor to growth, Sales of Verco's low-front Kingston have increased year-on-year since its introduction in 2003, and the Cambridge range is proving as popular as ever thanks to its small footprint and large merchandising volume.
The company is also expecting its latest innovation - the new Inline Merchandiser - to be another winner. This integral open-chill cabinet range, which is based on the Cambridge, is designed to fit within the 1.2m module of an ambient shelving system. It sets new standards in space, merchandising and energy efficiency and, says Colin Jones, means that Verco now offers a comprehensive retail refrigeration package of open-chill, glass-door and inline refrigerated cabinets that are attractive, well built, reliable and energy efficient - and manufactured in the UK.
