Paynes Poppets goes Karaoke Crazy!

Paynes Poppets' largest sampling campaign to date has been launched with much fanfare at Asda in Shipley, where a successful world record breaking attempt kicked off the karaoke themed activity in style.

The event, sponsored and organised by the much loved confectionery brand, saw karaoke crooner Mark Pearson smash the Guinness World Record for the longest individual karaoke marathon by almost three hours, singing continuously for in excess of 30 hours. The attempt, which saw more than £2,000 raised for Sue Ryder Care's Manorlands hospice, heralded the start of Paynes' brand new 'racket in a packet' sampling campaign.

The Paynes Poppets Pop Pickers tour will pull into ten towns and cities throughout the UK as the retro brand searches for the UK's best karaoke star. The campaign is expected to see more than 250,000 samples distributed, with many more consumers reached through the associated PR promotions with local newspapers, websites and radio stations.

Marketing Manager Tracey Mattock, commenting at the record breaking event in Shipley, said: "We are delighted with Mark's achievement and hope all our sampling events on the tour will be just as successful. There is a great fit with Paynes Poppets and karaoke - especially as both are coming back into fashion - and as well as enhancing the brand awareness among our target audience, we are expecting the tour to uncover some hidden talent along the way."
