Innovate expands fleet with fuel efficient trucks

Leading temperature controlled storage and distribution provider Innovate Logistics is procuring 185 of Volvo's groundbreaking Euro 4 trucks over the next 12 months, rendering its fleet almost 550 strong. The Euro 4 model has been selected on the back of its predicted fuel performance. Innovate has experienced excellent fuel results with Euro 3 trucks and Volvo has pledged that the new model will see a further five per cent improvement. Following the acquisition of Corby Chilled Distribution, both continuous fleet replacement and immediate new contract requirements will be met by the 288 Euro 4s. It is also anticipated that the order may need to be increased to meet future growth plans. The new trucks will be liveried in Innovate's distinctive orange and blue branding, with each one individually named. They will run between all the Innovate and Corby Chilled Distribution depots across the UK. "Right now, the Euro 4s are at the pinnacle in truck technology. Volvo's promise to improve fuel results by five per cent played a pivotal role in our decision making process - we can cut costs and reduce our emissions in one move. We are planning further expansion through 2007, and the extended fleet will enable us to continue providing a top level service." Innovate specialises in developing client specific logistics solutions for confectionery storage, chilled and frozen order picking and distribution of convenience meals, meat, fish and fresh produce.
