Microlise customers go green

Customers who use the Microlise Fleet & Distribution portfolio of solutions are making a definite contribution to tackle their CO2 emissions, enabling them to achieve commercial advantage as well as a benefit to the environment. Based on customer reports over the past year, Microlise estimate their customers in 2006 used over 4,500,000 litres less fuel than during 2005. In many cases, this is despite a rise in the quantity of goods transported. Based on a mixture of vehicle types from 7.5 ton box vans to 40 ton articulated lorries, this translates to an estimated reduction of over 14,500,000 kilometres in the total distance travelled with resultant reductions in wear and tear on the road surfaces and fleet maintenance. Ultimately the reduction in CO2 emissions amounts to more than 11,500 tons per year, equivalent to about 9,600 people flying to New York and back! Customers of Microlise Fleet & Distribution typically see a 10 - 15% reduction on fuel consumption due to increased efficiency in the use of their vehicles. Ongoing fuel reductions are achieved through changes in driver behaviour in areas including harsh acceleration, incorrect selection of gears and engine speed, correct use of brakes (exhaust, engine and air), cruise control and unnecessary engine idling.
