Don't let 'out of stocks' spoil christmas, says Shloer

With Christmas just around the corner, soft drinks brand Shloer is urging retailers to think about stocking up on 'must have' items now to avoid consumer disappointment and loss of sales caused by 'out of stocks.'

Mike Coppard, Managing Director of Shloer, explains: "For our brand, like numerous others, Christmas is one of the busiest sales periods, with volume up to 25 times higher than the annual average in the weeks proceeding the big day. This is a great opportunity for retailers to capitalise on a sales boom and stocking up early is the only sure fire way of not missing out."

As well as being a popular yuletide beverage, the brand is keen to point out that Shloer is 'not just for Christmas', and also experiences extraordinary growth sales in the New Year period. With the post Christmas week seeing an eightfold increase on average weekly sales, Coppard suggests retailers make the most of demand and feature the brand in both pre and post Christmas party displays in key store locations.

He says: "Christmas may traditionally be viewed as a period of excess consumption, especially on the alcoholic beverage front. However, year on year sales growth proves consumers still want the choice of a sparkling non-alcoholic alternative.

"Last year, Shloer Christmas sales were up 8% on 2005 and this year we're anticipating double figures in terms of percentage growth. With such demand for product clearly out there, it's advisable that retailers stock up to see them through Christmas and beyond at the earliest opportunity, as this could make the difference between good and great seasonal trading."

2006 Neilsen data shows the key dates for purchase of adult soft drinks during and around Christmas start in late November / early December before peaking (with Shloer sales at nearly 2,000,000 bottles a week) in the few days before Christmas, proving that impulse and last-minute purchase is still a major sales opportunity.
