Gold And Silver For MDC

Just rewards for an ongoing programme of innovative new product development: that's how MDC Foods sees its recent success at this year's BFFF awards, where the company won Gold and Silver. A Gold award went to Pan-Cook Italian chicken & pasta meal for one, developed for Tesco, while its Asparagus Steamer, developed as part of Sainsbury's Taste the Difference range, won Silver. "I am extremely proud of all the work our team has put in over the past twelve months on our whole new product range," says MDC Managing Director Mike Cullinane. "Our continuing success is based on maintaining close working relationships with our customers, around a joint agenda of bringing innovation and excitement to the frozen category." The Tesco Pan-Cook Italian and chicken pasta product is made using an authentic Italian recipe with 100 per cent chargrilled chicken breast, using more vegetables in a fresh-tasting sauce free from all artificial colourings, flavourings and preservatives. Stir-heat and eat from frozen in only eight minutes. RRP is £1.49. The Asparagus Steamer for Sainsbury's uses hand-cut Peruvian asparagus, slightly salted Normandy butter and cracked black pepper in a steam-cook tray.
