The new 2007/8 Product Range Catalogue from loading and unloading equipment specialists Thorworld Industries Ltd is packed full of materials handling solutions for specifiers, purchasers and users of loading bay equipment, accessories and safety aids.
The 44-page full colour catalogue provides a comprehensive source of information for the company's ever growing product line-up, covering everything needed for safe, cost-effective and profitable materials handling, as well as the protection of vehicles, plant and personnel.
Products range from equipment for loading and unloading where there is no loading dock, such as mobile yardramps and modular docks, to the Truckloada mobile yardlift and Dockloada scissor lift platforms.
There are details of Thorworld's popular RentARamp service, which provides high quality standard or purpose-designed steel mobile yardramps for purchase or hire, on a sale or return basis, including a new low cost Economy model.
A section of the catalogue is devoted to advice regarding the points to consider when buying ramps, such as ensuring they fully meet all relevant European legislation, safety standards and directives.
Thorworld Managing Director John Meale said: "This is an extremely important and topical subject considering the ongoing problems with inferior ramps and other loading dock equipment, without the CE mark, now coming into the UK. Using materials handling equipment that does not carry the CE mark, whether imported or not, threatens the health and safety of personnel in the workplace and businesses could also be risking prosecution if they use it."
As an active member of the British Materials Handling Federation (BMHF) and the Association of Loading and Elevating Equipment Manufacturers (ALEM), Thorworld Industries has been closely involved in the preparation and development of European safety standards.
John Meale is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics (FCILT), a former President of the BMHF, a past Chairman of ALEM and is currently a board member of the Federation Europeenne de la Manutention (FEM) and the European Federation of Materials Handling. He is also President of the FEM Product Group on Elevating and Loading Equipment.
Other products in the new catalogue include pallet and sack trucks; counterbalanced container lift trucks; powered pallet trucks; dock plates and boards, and dock levellers, seals and shelters; together with a comprehensive range of accessories and safety aids such as wheel guides/alignment curbs, wheel chocks, dock and traffic lights, safety mirrors, trailer safety locks, vehicle wheel locks, dock and vehicle bumpers, trailer landing leg supports, multipurpose ramps, wheelchair access ramps, sleeping policemen, impact protectors and safety bollards and barriers.
Thorworld is firmly established as a leading one-stop, single source supplier to the loading bay and materials handling sectors, and recognised as both a leader and innovator in the provision of quality engineered equipment, with numerous prestigious customers in distribution, logistics, transport, retailing, food, drink manufacturing and the service industries.
