City Facilities Management (City FM) have recently awarded Toyota Material Handling UK the prestigious supplier of the year award.
City FM based in Glasgow, who provide a one stop shop for facilities management and cleaning services to ASDA stores nationwide held their first ever inaugural supplier of the year award to judge the performance of major service providers to the large supermarket chain. The award, which is part of their Partners in Progress Supplier Conference judged products ranging from escalators, grounds maintenance, till equipment, forecourt fuel pumps as well as materials handling equipment.
Toyota fought off fierce competition from not only competitors within the materials handling equipment industry but from a much wider area to claim the title of supplier of the year.
Craig Bonnar, Managing Director of City FM and Head of ASDA Store Services explains, “Toyota have instigated a method of contract management that is industry leading and has delivered a consistent high level of performance and achieved year on year cost savings to the business. Their unit availability on a fleet of over 1200 trucks has never been less than 97.5%.”
Trevor Whitehead, Contract Manager for Toyota was delighted to receive the award. Trevor commented: “We have also managed the damage element of the contract and have successfully achieved like for like savings of £300,000 year to date.”
In addition, ASDA are currently trialing several innovations in stores in conjunction with Toyota that may further drive down damage costs and increase truck availability.
