Tilda Pure Basmati Rice is number one for taste

Tilda, the UK’s number one Basmati rice, is proud to announce it has been found best for taste out of 30 Basmati rice brands in an independent survey by The Foundation For Product Testing (Stiftung Warentest, the Germany equivalent to the UK Which? report).

Experts testing the rice brands concluded that Tilda Pure Basmati Rice stood out from all the other rice for its intense aromatic flavour and purity of grains. All Basmati rice brands were tested for quality of grain, sensory evaluation and authenticity, and over half of the brands tested failed in at least one of these areas.

Tilda Pure Basmati Rice was the only rice found to be 100% pure Basmati.  While the current code of practice states that rice can be labelled ‘Basmati’ even with up to 7% of other grains, over five of the rice brands tested contained more than this, and so should not be described as Basmati. The experts commented that the other rice brands ‘smelt musty, clumped together or did not contain a single grain of Basmati’.
