Leading flexographic packaging supplier Ultimate Packaging has raised a tremendous amount of money to help thousands of women in the Lincolnshire area. Chris Tonge and Derek Gibson rode 50 miles through torrential rain to raise a staggering £6,500 for a local breast cancer unit. Chris Tonge, Sales and Marketing Director for Ultimate Packaging along with Technical Manager Derek Gibson donned some ‘interesting’ pink outfits to cycle a mammoth 50 miles in order to raise money for the fund. The route took the pink clad tandem team from Grimsby to Louth and back again. The pair completed the ride in just four hours, despite torrential rain on the return leg of the journey.
Once safely back in Grimsby, Chris Tonge said, “Derek and I were both excited about the ride and we really enjoyed it despite the rain. We chose breast cancer because it is a disease that has touched many people’s lives, my family included, so a lot of thought went into it. We would like to thank our friends and family but especially our suppliers for their faith in us and their kind donations!”
Mr Donaldson, consultant at the unit said: “Donations of this magnitude are extremely important. With constantly changing technologies we are continually having to update our equipment which has a huge cost implication. We are prudent when negotiating prices although one ultrasound machine costs £55,000. The money raised by Chris and Derek will go a long way and we are tremendously grateful for their efforts.”
