Last year probably the biggest trend in the Baby & Kids’ toys industry was the growth of sales in licensed products and collectables particularly linked to blockbuster movies like Star Wars, says Lara Alcock, Sales and Marketing Director for Little Brian paint sticks, the play arm of education paint supplier Brian Clegg. Other growth areas have included increasing sales for tech like robots, and educational electronic toys.
At the same time more simple toys have come into their own in the last year, with products like puzzles and board games seeing increasing demand. “Items which promote creative play have also gained in popularity, and we’ve seen that first hand with our Little Brian Paint Sticks range, which is designed to be fun and promote mark making in younger children.
“Sales have been strong for the Paint Sticks ranges throughout the year but we’ve seen particular spikes in buying linked to popular holidays. When children have returned to school, we have seen a rise in sales for our Classic Paint Sticks, whilst our Metallic Paint Sticks were a huge hit for bonfire night and in the run up to the Christmas period.
“The pre-Christmas sales also saw a rise in sales across our Paint Sticks range, its small size made it a perfect stocking filler whilst our new x24 Assortment proved popular with its release in the build up to Christmas.” Providing a clean and convenient way to paint, the Little Brian Paint Sticks range has developed since launching back in 2016. The Classic Paint Sticks have won a number of awards from Best Art & Craft Toy at the MadeForMums Awards to a Gold win in the Special Needs category at the Independent Toy Awards.
The Paint Sticks range has certainly grown since 2016 with Metallic and Day colours now on sale. “We have also launched a x24 Assortment pack ahead of the Christmas period. The Assortment pack contains 12 Classic colours along with six Metallic and six Day Glow colours. The product, which retails at £14.99, offers a great selection of the different Little Brian colours and this has seen strong pre-Christmas sales.”
