The European Pizza and Pasta Show, planned for 15-16 November 2017 at Olympia London and organised in association with PAPA-The Pizza, Pasta and Italian Food Association, is joining efforts with UK leading charities FareShare and The Trussell Trust, as well as industry organisations The British Sandwich Association and The Café Society UK, to raise awareness and alleviate hunger and food insecurity in the UK. The United Nations Food and Agricultural Organisation estimated in 2014 that 8.4 million people were living in households having insufficient food in the UK, the 6th largest economy in the world.

FareShare are the UK’s leading food redistribution charity with over 20 years’ experience. Through their incredible work last year they were able to save over 12,000 tonnes of food, which equates to 26 million meals provided to vulnerable people through 5,589 different charities & community groups.

Lindsay Boswell, FareShare CEO, comments – “We are delighted to be named as charity partner for the European Pizza & Pasta Show. This partnership is valuable for us in two ways. Firstly, food that becomes surplus at the end of the show will be made available to FareShare, so that we can redistribute it to local charities. Additionally, we will benefit from exposure to food businesses that both exhibit and attend the show, helping to spread the word about the work we do to tackle food waste and hunger to key audiences.”

The Trussell Trust runs a network of over 420 foodbanks, giving emergency food and support to people in crisis across the UK, where 13 million people live below the poverty line. In the last year Trussell Trust foodbanks handed out over 1.1 million three day emergency food supplies to people in crisis. The Trust also works with foodbanks to provide a range of new services like nutrition and budgeting courses, money advice and fuel relief, thereby helping people to break the cycle of poverty.

“The Trussell Trust is delighted to be one of two charities supported by The European Pizza and Pasta Show” – shares with us Andrew Mallinson. Corporate Partnerships Manager – “Through our partnership with the European Pizza & Pasta Show not only will Trussell Trust foodbanks in South-West London benefit by being able to collect long-life foodstuffs left by exhibitors at the event but The Trussell Trust will also benefit by both raising awareness of the work we do in delivering emergency food relief to people in crisis and by having the opportunity to build relationships with key food suppliers exhibiting at the event”.

The European Pizza and Pasta Show is the leading Pizza and Pasta annual industry event that brings together leading F&B manufacturers with wholesalers, retailers, independent restaurant, restaurant chains as well as global food service operators.
