Ready to eat food specialist Simpsons of Manchester is striving to put easy-to-cook hot desserts back on the weekday menu with the launch of a new range of microwavable sponge puddings.
The puddings come in two formats – twin pots & pot sponges with custard – and mark the start of a sustained NPD drive to accelerate growth of the Simpsons brand throughout 2010, the company’s centenary.
Simpsons Twin Pot Sponge Puddings comprise five traditional favourites – Strawberry Jam, Sticky Toffee, Syrup, Spotted Dick and Chocolate. Each pudding can be microwaved in less than a minute.
The puddings with custard range features the same variants. Both varieties are expected to retail at around £1.29 to £1.35 and have secured listings with Asda and Morrisons, with other listings expected soon.
Bryan Cooke, Simpsons Commercial Director, says the new puddings will enable people to enjoy desserts during the week, particularly busy mums who want to serve a dessert but who haven’t got time to oven cook or make home-made sponges.
The sponges will be supported by a national advertising campaign supported by viral marketing and PR targeting women’s interest titles.
