Convenience store chain Scotfresh has appointed experienced industry executive Mark Steven as its new managing director to lead the awardwinning retailer as it moves into the next phase of aggressive growth.

Steven brings a wealth of retail and wholesale experience to the role having held senior positions with Scottish multi-site operators Botterills (Spar) and KeyStore (Park’s). He has also recently worked for convenience and fuel technology firms Oracle and Point Four.

Currently operating eight stores across Glasgow and the central belt, Scotfresh is an established player in the Scottish convenience marketplace and has bold plans for future growth. Company chairman Shaun Marwaha said: “I am absolutely delighted to welcome Mark to the Scotfresh family.

He has nearly 25 years’ experience in convenience retailing and an outstanding track record focused around customer service, innovation and technology which makes him ideally placed to drive our business forward.”

Steven said he was joining one of the leading names in convenience retailing in Scotland at an “exciting and crucial” time in its development. “Scotfresh has built up an excellent reputation in the industry and is a recognised brand with significant customer loyalty and strong relationships with suppliers.

“The business is scaling up with new store openings in the pipeline, further development of the OOR Kitchen food to go concept and ongoing efforts to improve efficiencies in a fiercely competitive convenience retail sector – this is an exciting and crucial phase of Scotfresh’s growth and I’m looking forward to working with Shaun and the rest of the team to build on the excellent foundations in place.”
