Welcome to The Grocery Trader’s Retail Business Technology Expo Preview. Taking place from Wednesday 16th to Thursday 17th March at London’s Earls Court, Retail Business Technology Expo is a brand new event focusing on business solutions and technology for the retail industry. The Grocery Trader will be at the Expo too, so make a date to come and see us on stand 632.

Retail Business Technology Expo combines an exhibition offering a comprehensive range of solutions with a free informative and interactive education programme incorporating seminars, workshops, and inspirational features, plus a host of networking opportunities and hospitality – all under one roof. Co-located with Retail Business Technology Expo, ‘Cards & Payments Solutions 2011’ provides a platform for the most innovative suppliers from this sector to showcase their products and solutions, as well as hosting the first Vendorcom Quarterly Cards & Payments Thought Leadership Conference of 2011.

Retail Business Technology Expo, Cards & Payments Solutions, all the seminars and the conference are free to attend and designed for all members of the team responsible for taking or influencing purchasing decisions for technology. This not only includes IT directors and staff, but management across the business including operations, business development, finance, marketing, security and other roles for whom technology is crucial.

As well as the wide range of leading vendors exhibiting a variety of solutions and products, visitors can enjoy numerous networking opportunities, and over 80 educational, inspiring, independent seminars, all free to attend.

The impressive line of seminar speakers includes Eivind Brown, Programme Manager at Co-operative Food IS, who will be discussing ‘The Largest Retail Integration Project this Century’ for The Co-operative and Somerfield chains; Roy Ford, IT Controller, Spar (UK), and Brian Preece from BCP, looking at EPoS for the 21st Century, and Giles Crabtree, E-commerce Development Manager, Waitrose and Tanya Holt, from X2, talking about how Waitrose rolled out a computerised picking solution.

One of the first exhibitors to sign up was major printer and POS equipment manufacturer Star Micronics. Annette Tarlton, Marketing Director, said, “It’s about time a dedicated retail technology show came back to the UK. Retailers of all sizes need to see new ideas and solutions to today’s challenges from UK suppliers without taking days out of their schedule and a show of this quality is the right place for suppliers to present them.”

Tarlton’s comments echo the responses the event has received, with retailers including Paul Forester, IT Director, Monsoon Accessorize, Gary Barr, IT Director, Wm Morrison Supermarkets PLC, Tom Scott, Head of Business Solutions UK, Kingfisher plc and Ian Woosey, Group IT and e-commerce Director, Carpetright plc, joining the extensive list of high-level retailers on the events steering committee.

Have a great show, and see you at Earls Court!
