What’s the most exciting thing about your job?
An increasing number of retailers are purchasing products with us online. It’s very exciting to be developing our transactional website and digital strategy at a time when more and more retailers are choosing this channel to order.
Who’s inspired you most in your career?
I wouldn’t want to pick out only one person. In terms of career progress having a good manager is important and I’ve been fortunate that I’ve worked with a few.
If you had to do it all over again, what would you do different?
Not to worry as much, as long as you work hard and try your best.
What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you at work?
A few years ago now I was travelling to London for a meeting and on the journey there I ended up getting a large black oil stain on my jacket from it brushing against the inside of the train door.
Tried to wash it off, but to no avail! Who or what makes you laugh?
I’m a fan of Satirical American TV Shows and in particular of John Stewart, Stephen Colbert and John Oliver.
Do you have any hidden talents?
I can play the trumpet and I’ve not yet deafened my colleagues by playing it at work.
Who would be your favourite party guest?
My favourite sporting memory was England winning the Rugby World Cup, so I’ll choose Jonny Wilkinson.
What is the greatest luxury in your life?
My brand new smart phone.
What is your favourite guilty pleasure?
I do have a habit of listening to cheesy music on my Spotify account on a fairly regular basis.
Do you have any secret ambitions?
It’ll cease being a secret if I share it now!!!
What’s your dream holiday destination?
I would love to visit Japan, in particular to see the Golden Pavilion Temple in Kyoto.
What are your three favourite movies of all time?
It’s difficult to pick just three films above all the great films that I’ve enjoyed over the years, but if I have to choose I’ll go with Shawshank Redemption, Jaws and Fargo.
What is your favourite book of all time?
Another tough choice when I was younger I would have picked The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. In more recent years I’ve enjoyed reading Freakonomics by Stephen D.Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner.
What’s your favourite pastime?
I enjoy walking on the South Downs and then visiting one of my favourite local pubs.
If you won the Lottery, what would you do?
I would go travelling for a year and then maybe start up my own business. Owning my own Microbrewery certainly has its appeal.
What would be your advice to someone thinking about coming into this industry (apart from “don’t do it”)?
I would recommend a career in grocery and would advise people to be open-minded. I’ve found that there a lot of opportunities available to progress, as long as you’re willing to work hard.

The key responsibility of my role at Palmer and Harvey, the UK’s number one delivered wholesaler, is to drive our digital strategy and to ensure that we keep a pace with the latest digital trends within the market place. Since taking on the position I’ve placed a strong emphasis on enhancing our transactional website with the aim of making it the most accessible and straightforward to use ecommerce site in the wholesale sector. Outside managing our digital strategy I collaborate with my colleagues within the marketing department on a number of projects from working on the plans for our annual tradeshow Pro-retail to instigating a number of our market research projects.
