It was AutoCoding Systems’ second year at the PPMA Exhibition demonstrating its wide range of packaging line automation solutions. Despite visitor numbers appearing lower than last year, the quality of the enquiries was good with some definite projects planned over the next few months.

Visitors to the stand were able to see the AutoCoding system integrated to Videojet, Domino and Markem-Imaje inkjet printers, SICK barcode scanners, a Loma combined checkweigher/ metal detector, as well as an Advanced Labelling Systems promotional labeller, SICK inspector, Matrox Smart camera and Cognex 2D reader.

The range of equipment integration demonstrated the versatility of the solution and confirmed AutoCoding Systems’ commitment to continue to expand the functionality of the solution, making it adaptable to all types of factory environment.

Visitors were able to witness at first hand the ease at which the system sets up and controls all the devices on the packaging line quickly and with limited human intervention. The benefits of the newly developed “paperless” quality system, now included as standard with AutoCoding, were immediately recognised. By automating the manual quality checks that have to be undertaken at “job start”, throughout the job run and at “end of job”, the amount of physical paper records is greatly reduced. The automation of in-line and off-line quality processes enables data to be captured in the audit log for use in subsequent reports.

AutoCoding Systems also offers solutions which cover all levels of vision, together with line monitoring and pallet labelling systems, thus ensuring their product offering covers a wider aspect of packaging line control and automation.

Although AutoCoding Systems were pleased with the level of new enquiries received during the show, they were also delighted to welcome existing customers to the stand, as well as have the opportunity to continue to build relationships with existing and prospective OEMs.  Mike Hughes, Managing Director, explained, “Our business is dependent on good working relationships with a wide range of companies in the areas of packaging, coding and labelling. We are always keen to meet new partner companies who would like to add value to their product offerings. The PPMA exhibition has proved to be an ideal location to meet up with all the major players in coding and labelling, as well as packaging equipment providers.”

Many of the demonstrations were carried out by Stewart Lightfoot, Solutions Team Manager. “We were encouraged by the level of interest in our solutions, particularly AutoCoding and Vision. Managers from various disciplines are now recognising the benefits in terms of the reduction in coding and packaging errors, reduced job set-up time and job changeover time, as well as the resulting reduction in physical paperwork.”

AutoCoding Systems offer solutions for all FMCG manufacturers, small or large, whether they are looking for an entry level application to manage product specific coding information or a more robust industrial application for complete set-up and control of all packaging line devices.
