wash-machine.jpgThings are set to get even busier for PHS Teacrate, the UK’s largest crate rental company, following the installation of a new washer at its crate washing facility in Curdworth, West Midlands. The new machine has more than doubled capacity for Teacrate which means it can now offer a crate washing service to larger customers in all industries and a more streamlined service to existing customers.

This £300,000 investment enables Teacrate to safely cope with Returnable Transit Packaging (RTP) from sectors such as food, automotive and retail industries while maintaining the same stringent hygiene criteria. Quality is ensured by random microbial swab testing at least twice daily and more frequently when food standards require. Unusually, this versatile new washer is able to treat plastic pallets and trays as well as crates. All RTP items are then passed through a drying section, cutting down on turnaround time and ensuring that when they are returned to the customer all crates, pallets and trays are thoroughly dry, thus preventing water damage to products.

Capable of operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the new washer has arrived just in time to cope with RTP for the British fruit and vegetable harvest and traditional increased summer demand for barbecue goods.

Nick Burke, PHS Teacrate’s Commercial Director, says: “We are very excited about this new crate washer. Teacrate has always been proud of its flexible RTP collection and delivery service and now we can confidently offer it to a wider range of clients. We would welcome prospective customers to come and view our new facility and see how Teacrate can help take the stress out of crate hire.”
