Made from 100% premium durum wheat pasta, Pastinos are fried and seasoned with a range of Italian flavours new to the Premium snack category – Originale, Sicilian Lemon and Cracked Black Pepper, Tomato and Basil, Chianti and Olive and Arrabbiata.
The flavours, which use all natural ingredients, draw on the rich Italian provenance and tastes that typify Italy. Pastinos are created with the passion and care that you would expect from two food loving Italians.
Back in 2012, Giuseppe Martorana and Chef Roberto Perini, of Martorana Snacks, the company behind Pastinos, realised their long awaited ambition to bring a new and totally unique pasta snack to the market.
For years Roberto, a Consultant chef/restaurateur for businesses around the world, had a vision to create pasta that could be eaten anywhere at any time, “the most famous Italian food is pasta, wouldn’t it be great if you could eat pasta while cycling, walking, running or in fact eat pasta anywhere” said Roberto.
Both men have a real passion for Italian food, not surprising as they both come from traditional Italian family backgrounds. Giuseppe, a successful businessman born in Sicily is also a restaurateur and has fond memories of his early years with his family, “Food was always central to our family, and in typical Italian tradition was quite simple really, but always used the finest ingredients. I wanted this concept to become inherent to our range of pasta snacks, we insisted we used all natural ingredients in the making of Pastinos.”
Now available in both 150g and 40g bags, Pastinos contain complex carbohydrates and is a ‘slow release energy’ food (better than cereals/oats). Slow release sugars are better for metabolism, helping to sustain energy. Pastinos are very low in sodium, cholesterol-free, have no added MSG or hydrogenated fat and are lower in fat than the typical potato crisp product and use natural ingredients.
