Move over millennial pink, this PINK Somerset cider is something to snout about

There’s a new pig on the block, as Orchard Pig today announce the launch of the latest, pink hued addition to its award winning premium cider range – just in time for the warmer weather.

Combining the light and fruity elements of a rosé wine, with the medium dryness you’d expect from a Somerset cider, Orchard Pig Pink is a crisp blush apple cider at 4.5% ABV.

With a playful tickle of sweet – and most definitely not SOWer – flavours, it takes its distinctive colour from purple carrots, a firm favourite of the pigs, which used to trot around orchards of Somerset.

No other flavourings feature within Orchard Pig Pink cider, just bittersweet apples from the West Country, with a blend of naturally sweet red apples.

The gently sparkling cider pairs perfectly with food with a carefully balanced acidity and sweetness leaving a well-rounded flavour. It’s just the ticket to add some colour into your summer festivities – perfect for refreshing outdoor drinking on long summer days.

The newest pig in a whole sty full premium ciders, Orchard Pig is a modern success story, growing year on year since its launch in the noughties.

Now, Orchard Pig Pink will bring a playful twist to bars, garden parties and Instagram feeds alike this summer, with a pink-tastic marketing campaign, including experiential events, sampling, PR and digital, taking inspiration for the unstoppable trend for ‘millennial pink’ which has transcended fashion and interiors, supported by the boom in the rosé wine category.

Rhona Fyfe, Brand Manager said: “We’re tickled pink with the arrival of Orchard Pig Pink. Over the past few years, we’ve seen the rosé trend erupt in the North American market as well as a huge consumer appetite for rosé wine and pink gins here in the UK, we want to bring a little bit of these flavours to cider drinkers with Orchard Pig Pink.”.

“While Orchard Pig Pink certainly looks good, it tastes even better and is the perfect refreshing drink for summer sipping, festival season and BBQ dining.”

Available in four-packs of 330ml cans and 500ml bottles, Orchard Pig Pink continues the punchy, contemporary branding customers have come to expect from the range’s packaging, this time with… you’ve guessed it… a pink makeover, sure to grab attention in bars and on shelves this summer.

With cider as a festival season staple for consumers, the 330ml cans will be the ideal accompaniment for 2019’s summer events, and the 500ml bottles the natural choice for BBQ al fresco dining.

Orchard Pig will also be supporting Team Margot, a charity which was set up in 2015 by hospitality industry entrepreneur Yaser Martini, in memory of his daughter Margot. The charity honours her legacy after she lost her battle with blood cancer, aged two. Unlike most charity initiatives, Team Margot’s core aim is not to raise money, but to encourage people to register as stem cell and bone marrow donors by raising awareness. Their next drive (or row) sees The Team Margot Atlantic Rower boat cross the Atlantic in the pink vessel, which is sponsored by Orchard Pig.

Part of their initiative is to encourage pubs, bars and restaurants to participate in ‘Pinkspiration Week’, offering consumers a pink drinks list, having a ‘Drink Pink Day’, offering pink-inspired dishes or putting team members in pink to help raise awareness and encourage registrations for stem cell and bone marrow donors.

Rosé isn’t your shade? Don’t worry, there’s a Pig for everyone.

The Reveller Cider, the main liquid in the range is a medium 4.5% with a generous apple aroma and a tangy note of fresh lime to finish available in a 50L keg, 500ml bottles and 440ml cans. The Truffler is a great dry addition and the Hogfather is the Pig Daddy of the range bringing the muscle with a sweet 6.8% and a gentle sparkle. Both available in a 500ml bottle. The range caters to many tastes and all seasons – the Pink Pig is the perfect summer BBQ staple.

Cider and rosé fans alike can get their trotters on Orchard Pig Pink across the UK from next week including Mathew Clark Wholesale and selected ASDA stores.
