Omega Pharma, the second biggest branded hay fever supplier in the UK, is expanding their Prevalin portfolio with Prevalin Allergy 20ml Kids and Prevalin Allergy 30ml – Pharmacy pack. The new additions reflect Omega Pharma’s commitment to providing hay fever protection to the whole family, while addressing the number one consumer need for fast relief.

Prevalin-Kids-FOP-YellowThe addition of the kids pack means that fast-acting protection is now available for children from six years of age, and frequent users or those in need of year-round support will benefit from the larger pharmacy pack size. The non-drowsy nasal sprays have a unique thixotropic gel formulation that provides unrivalled relief from hay fever symptoms, getting to work in just three minutes, 5x faster than hay fever tablets. The new lines are also steroid and antihistamine free and, like all products in the Prevalin Allergy range, are approved by Allergy UK.

The existing product portfolio also includes:

• BecoAllergy, a fast acting one-a-day hay fever and allergy treatment. No one-a-day tablet works faster than BecoAllergy. Getting to work in less than an hour, the convenient daily dose provides round the clock relief from the misery associated with a runny, itchy nose or streaming eyes. BecoAllergy contains cetirizine and is suitable for children as young as six

• Beconase, the UK’s No.1 selling allergy nasal spray, works twice as fast as the traditional fluticasone nasal spray. When used regularly, Beconase provides long lasting protection against hay fever symptoms. Beconase is non-drowsy and is suitable for adults over 18 for the prevention and relief of hay fever symptoms

• Prevalin Allergy, a breakthrough barrier treatment that both treats and prevents the symptoms of hay fever. Awarded Independent Pharmacy Product of the Year for the last three years, Prevalin acts by neutralising pollen and allergens already inside the nose, while simultaneously creating a barrier that inhibits further exposure. Steroid and antihistamine free, this innovative spray is also suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women and athletes

The five product strong portfolio illustrates Omega Pharma’s mission to address the increasing prevalence of seasonal allergic rhinitis (SAR), commonly known as hay fever. The range provides relief from all manner of symptoms, enabling sufferers to regain control over a condition that more than three quarters of people (78%) say negatively impacts their quality of life.

Stuart White, Marketing Manager at Omega Pharma says: “Omega Pharma knows how debilitating SAR can be when treated incorrectly – that’s why it’s so important for sufferers to find a treatment that works for them. The launch of Prevalin Allergy 20ml Kids and Prevalin Allergy 30ml – Pharmacy pack provides SAR sufferers with a complete range of options, meaning that the whole family can now benefit from the fast and effective relief offered by the Omega Pharma hay fever portfolio.”

Omega Pharma’s hay fever range grew at three times the rate of the total category last year, a trajectory that will be supported in 2015 by a two-tiered TV campaign and £2 million investment. The creative direction will position hay fever as a condition that should be taken seriously, highlighting the role of pharmacy as the first port of call for anyone wanting to treat the symptoms of hay fever.

Fronting the Prevalin above the line (ATL) campaign is Roger Humble who runs Fourways Pharmacy in Herne Hill. Roger was chosen from a long list of applicants following a nationwide search. “We felt that Roger really personified the family-focused and empathetic values of the brand and are thoroughly looking forward to working with him throughout the 2015 hay fever season,” said Stuart. “A second ATL execution will support the fast acting efficacy of BecoAllergy and Beconase.”

Pharmacist Roger Humble said: “Hay fever is a growing condition in the UK, with a quarter of the population affected, and more people experiencing symptoms each year. It is important for new and existing sufferers to realise that not all symptoms should be treated in the same fashion and that, for complete relief, sufferers may require multiple treatments and should seek the advice of their pharmacist. I am thrilled to have been chosen to work with Omega Pharma this season, as their message that hay fever is often taken too lightly is something that I believe has been overlooked for far too long.”

Omega Pharma recognises that pharmacy staff are critical in helping sufferers get the help they need to manage their symptoms fast and effectively. In order to assist them in this role, the company has revised their award winning training booklet and quick guide, which will be distributed through key trade titles and will also be available via their training portal: www.omegapharmatraining.co.uk The materials will help pharmacy staff better understand the sufferers needs, as well as helping to make appropriate recommendations to customers.
