Oakland International, nationally recognised and winners of two Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, for International Trade and for Sustainable Development, will host, on behalf of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, a Sustainability Forum for local businesses on Thursday 21st September from 8am to 11am at their Redditch facility. The Chamber’s Sustainability Forum, in association with the Business Energy Efficiency Programme (BEEP), is a series of free workshops aimed at encouraging companies across the region to reduce their business operations’ environmental impact through energy and resource efficiency improvements and the wider subject of sustainability good practice.

Cassie Bray, Director of Business Engagement at the Chamber commented: “The Chamber are very grateful to Oakland International for offering to host our upcoming Sustainability Forum.

“The Business Energy Efficiency Programme (BEEP), which is delivered alongside eleven local partners, gives businesses detailed advice on how to reduce their own environmental impacts. It’s fantastic to be able offer businesses the opportunity to learn from a local company that has been widely recognised for their efforts in sustainability.”

The Business Energy Efficiency Programme is part-financed by the England European Regional Development Fund Programme as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020.

The forum will begin with a light breakfast and business networking and conclude with a tour of Oakland’s site. Speakers from energy and engineering consultants Pro Enviro will offer advice on implementing energy saving measures, and Low Carbon Opportunities Programme Manager, Ruth Corrall, will outline the funding opportunities available for renewable energy.

Speakers and topics covered:

Oakland International Co-Founder and Director, Dean Attwell: Sustainability at Oakland International.

Steve Stones from Proenviro: Implementing Energy Efficiency.

Ruth Corrall from the Low Carbon Opportunities Programme: Funding through the Low Carbon Opportunities Programme.

Oakland International Strategic Development Manager, Pete Vaughan commented: “We are delighted to be the host for the Chamber’s Sustainability Forum and look forward to sharing our knowledge on environmental and sustainable business change.”
