05_exv12_cutout_300dpi_04.jpgThe STILL EXV 10 and EXV 12 represent a new generation of pedestrian high lift pallet trucks. With capacities of 1.0 and 1.2 tonnes respectively, the new range was launched at CeMAT 2008. Continuing STILL’s innovative design principle, the EXV is designed around a modular platform which allows customers to choose from a wide range of options, creating a truck specifically tailored to the individual application profile. The EXV 12, for example, gives the option of a triplex mast for the first time. STILL already has one of the widest ranges of materials handling equipment from a single manufacturer, and, is able to provide optimum intralogistics solutions.

The STILL characteristics
When developing the EXV, STILL’s designers placed emphasis on typical STILL characteristics: robust, reliable, low maintenance and safe to use. This sturdily built, powerful pedestrian stacker offers excellent flex resistance thanks to the modified mast geometry, strengthened forks and a stiffer chassis. This is an important safety characteristic when transporting heavy pallets and ensures the EXV is free from twisting and flexing over uneven floors.

The maintenance and wear-free 1.2 kW three-phase (AC) drive motor guarantees reliable, high turnover performance with low running and maintenance costs. The modern AC drive unit provides excellent traction on the move and when braking, and the drive characteristics are programmable to the customer’s individual requirements.

As with all tiller trucks from STILL, the EXV features an intelligent speed control system which dynamically changes the travel speed according to the angle of the tiller arm. In practice, when the tiller is nearly upright the maximum speed is greatly reduced in order to minimise the risk of an accident. Only when the tiller is more horizontal – and therefore the operator is at a safer distance from the truck – does the controller allow the truck to accelerate to its maximum speed of 6 kph. This important safety feature is complemented by an anatomically shaped safety switch pad in the tiller head. When pressed, the safety switch executes a short reversing movement to move the truck away from the operator, thus preventing him or her from getting trapped.

High performance, easy to use
Improvements to the high performance hydraulic pump give increased lifting and lowering speeds compared to the previous generation model – with or without a load!

Remarkably though, whilst capable of much faster operation, the new hydraulic system is even quieter in use and allows precisely controlled movements. This sensitivity can be adapted to suit individual operations via a three-position switch. For example, switch position 1 might allow maximum performance for respectively higher throughput, whilst switch position 2 might allow greater lifting and lowering sensitivity for precision moving, i.e. when handling fragile goods or when exact placement of material in production machines is required.

An ambidextrous, ergonomic delight
The oversize buttons have been specifically designed for easy use when the operator is wearing gloves, and STILL’s proven tiller head design ensures comfortable operation of all functions – regardless of whether the operator is right or left handed.

In short: The new EXV is a cost effective, safe to use, powerfully built pedestrian high lift pallet stacker, offering excellent operating characteristics for increased throughput.
