West Sussex based Natures Way Foods (NWF) is supporting the IGD’s ‘Skills for Work Week’ and opening its doors to offer local youngsters an insight into working for a world-class fresh produce processing company.

The Skills for Work Week (17-21 September) is being run by industry think-tank IGD in partnership with the Chichester branch of Job Centre Plus. NWF will be offering free training to help tackle youth unemployment, as part the ‘Feeding Britain’s Future: Skills to Work Week’ – a nationwide initiative backed by the entire food and grocery industry.

During the Skills for Work Week, twenty young local unemployed people will be given an overview of the NWF salad and fresh fruits business; given a factory tour, attend a CV/interview work shop in the HR department, shadow personnel in the engineering department and gain a range of skills that can help them get back into the world of work.

Sarah Baldock, Sales & Marketing Director at NWF explains, “This is a great opportunity for local youngsters to see how a leading food company operates and to develop new skills. The food and grocery industry is the UK’s largest employer, providing one in seven jobs, and there is a huge range of careers on offer. As a large employer in the West Sussex area we are delighted to be supporting this excellent initiative”.

Joanne Denney-Finch OBE (Chief Executive of the IGD) adds: “NWF is an innovative, progressive, people-focused business and is a perfect match for what we are trying to do through Feeding Britain’s Future. We are delighted to have NWF on board and contributing to this important project which will give young unemployed people a helping hand getting back into work.”
