The new compact Hawker® XFC™, powerbloc and powerbloc dry batteries from EnerSys are designed for smaller motive power applications that need excellent performance and long running times with reduced operating costs and enhanced sustainability. They are suitable for pallet trucks, cleaning machines, small automatic guided vehicles (AGVs) and other electric vehicles.

XFC-012The Hawker XFC battery is ideal for applications that require ongoing machine availability such as multi-shift loading bay operations, automated handling trolleys or opportunity and daytime cleaning. Its unique characteristics support new ways of working because it can be recharged very quickly and for short periods whenever required, such as during breaks or while drivers carry out other tasks, without affecting its life-time performance. This helps maintain machine availability throughout multiple shifts while additional costs associated with spare batteries and changing facilities are avoided.

The Hawker XFC batteries incorporate the thin-plate-pure-lead (TPPL) technology which has high energy density coupled with the fast charge capability. The plates are much thinner than the lead-antimony grids used in traditional motive power batteries enabling them to deliver up to 20 per cent more power. The positive and negative plates are low impedance which means high current flow is available in discharge and recharge modes to support demanding applications with rapid recharging. The electrolyte is contained in a superior quality microporous glass mat separator with high absorption and stability to provide consistent performance for up to 1200 cycles at 60 per cent depth of discharge.

The Hawker XFC battery takes up 20 per cent less space than a conventional battery with the same capacity. This provides OEMs with new opportunities to integrate smaller batteries into novel designs or provide additional performance in existing models. The battery can be supplied as a single 12V unit or assembled into larger packs for specific applications. It supports high energy throughput of up to 300 per cent of C5 every 24 hours when kept within 80 per cent depth of discharge.

The unique capabilities of the Hawker XFC™ battery technology also promote improved sustainability. Its low charging factor results in reduced energy costs and CO2 emissions. The batteries are designed for optimum performance when used with a Hawker high-frequency charger. This combination is more efficient than traditional equipment and ensures correct charging whatever the battery’s state of discharge. Minimum gassing ensures the battery can be used in retail areas, public spaces and sensitive locations. It is virtually maintenance free and no water topping-up is necessary.

EnerSys also offers a full range of powerbloc and powerbloc dry monobloc batteries that deliver excellent performance in light, medium and heavy duty applications. They offer a choice of performance characteristics for operators and OEMs to match the battery to their particular application and duty-cycle requirement or replace poor-performing batteries in existing equipment. Each model is manufactured with an advanced combination of lead plates and electrolyte for the best possible combination of running time, energy efficiency, reliability and low maintenance.

Hawker XFC powerbloc batteries are available in 6V, 8V and 12V variants with a range of capacities and physical dimensions. This means operators and OEMs can specify the model with the ideal combination of performance and economy for their particular application. As well as being ideally suited to charging with Hawker HF™ chargers they can be used with standard 50Hz chargers which ensures operators can often introduce them into existing fleets without additional investment.

The Hawker TP™ powerbloc battery is designed for maximum performance and running time in the heaviest duty applications over a design life of up to 1100 duty cycles. The Hawker FPT™ powerbloc battery incorporates advanced flat grid plates with a paste electrolyte formulation which offers an extended service life of up to 700 duty cycles. It is ideal for arduous deep-cycle semi-traction applications that require enhanced performance with extended running times and lower maintenance.

The Hawker MFP™ dry powerbloc battery with alloy grid plates and gel electrolyte offers enhanced performance. This battery can maintain high currents, is less prone to self discharge and is resilient to fluctuations in temperature. It is ideal for medium-duty applications and has a service life of up to 700 duty applications. It is virtually maintenance free and requires no topping up.
