Following a successful campaign earlier in the year, the crisp that replicates the chip shop experience has returned to TV screens in a £1m campaign

McCoy’s Chips is returning to the nations TV screens this year with its popular ‘When Flavour Calls’ advert following the campaigns successful airing earlier this year which has contributed to double digit MAT growth of +55.8% for the brand[1]. The advert, which will run until the 16th of September, is set to remind consumers of McCoy’s Chips unique snacking experience with a familiar chip shop chip taste in a convenient bag of crisps.

The memorable 20 second advert is set in a traditional fish and chip shop on a sunny Brighton seafront, in which the protagonist Sarah receives a mysterious phone call from Flavour. As she picks up the famous golden receiver and tries the irresistible full-on flavour of McCoy’s Chips, she soon realises the ominous eyeballing seagulls are after them in force.

Led by the insight that flavour is the number one purchase driver for 51% of snackers[2] and capitalizing on the nations shared love for our local Fish & Chip shop, McCoy’s Chips has seen quick success. Chips was the second largest NPD in the CSN market in 2017 and is currently worth £9.1million[3] with one pack sold every five seconds[4].

Daniel Winslet, Marketing Controller at KP Snacks says: “McCoys is one of our most successful brands and continues to drive growth in our portfolio and the wider category. Our ‘When Flavour Calls’ adverts have proven to be very successful in driving sales. This second campaign for McCoy’s Chips this year will give the product a second burst of awareness, supporting retailers to capitalise on the nations love for the chip shop experience within a flavour packed crisp.”

The launch of Chips has contributed to the strength of the McCoy’s brand which is in MAT growth of +9.6 and currently a £125.9m brand[5].

McCoy’s Chips are available in; a sharing bag pack size of 130g (RRP £1.50), a 70g £1 PMPs and in multipacks of six 25g packs (RRP £1.99) and in three intense flavours that are reminiscent of chip shops including; Salted, Salt & Vinegar and Curry Sauce.
