READ THE LATEST ISSUE - May2016

frontThis issue has a distinctly summery flavour. Starting with the front cover, we have a report about leading disinfectant brand Zoflora, which will be revealing a unique garden with a design dedicated to its home county of Yorkshire at this summer’s RHS Hampton Court Flower Show in July.

Established for over 90 years, Zoflora has a strong Yorkshire heritage as it is manufactured in Linthwaite, near Huddersfield.

Zoflora will also reveal a brand new fragrance at the show dedicated to Yorkshire, ‘Green Valley,’ which they describe as a fresh and delicate floral fragrance reminiscent of the county’s meadows and valleys. Sponsoring a garden at Hampton Court is a perfect move for the brand, as the fragrances in their range are crafted to represent scents found in natural surroundings.

Our features in this issue are very summery too, starting with our Barbecue feature. It’s time for multiple grocers to get their fixtures ready for when people head out into the garden for the barbecue season. Due to the unpredictability of our glorious weather, as Emma Hunt from Vimto reminds us, barbecues here tend to be more impromptu than planned, with consumers being more likely to grab what they need at the last minute from the shops in terms of food and drink. That said, barbies are big business and growing bigger every year, up from an estimated 9 million BBQ occasions in 1997 to over 120 million in 2015.

We also take a look at Fridges and Chillers. As temperatures warm up outside this is a more important area than ever for supermarkets, Co-ops and convenience store chains, but the message is that they should really be top priority all year round. It’s vital for stores to present an attractive shopping environment, in which it’s easy for consumers to find the products they want and wanting to visit again and again. At the same time store managers have to achieve maximum energy efficiency and control their energy costs. And it’s also essential to be aware of, and comply with, the new regulations about the refrigerants used in these systems, as the British Refrigeration Association say in our article.

We also have our second quarterly Back of Store feature of 2016. As our latest crop of stories show, Britain’s multiple grocery retailers and their suppliers remain committed to investing in their warehousing and logistics operations and the equipment, services and solutions they need for them. We also have news from the equipment and solutions suppliers about their new products and recent projects.

Have a good summer and see you in June.
