Marketing Director of Costco, Sue Knowles, has received the Costco Award for being an ‘Inspiring Woman’ at the wholesaler’s annual conference in Seattle last month.

The Award was given to Sue for the work she has put in to developing the wholesaler’s internal networking initiative ‘Costco Journeys’ and for her involvement in chairing the UK branch of LEAD (Leading Executives Advancing Diversity), which encourages aspiring female leaders in UK retail, FMCG and wholesale to come together at free networking events throughout the year.

Sue has been with Costco for almost 25 years. She commented, “This was a complete surprise and a true honor to receive recognition of my work to support women within Costco through the Journeys initiative and the UK Chapter of LEAD.”

Costco’s HR Training and Development Manager Dominic Flanagan will be covering the Journey’s initiative at the Women in Wholesale conference on October 19, where LEAD Vice Chair, Janet Standing, will also be presenting on ‘How to Collaborate’.

The LEAD network has more than 300 UK and 1000 members across Europe. Membership is free and open to all women working in FMCG, retail and wholesale.

The next meeting is on September 5th in London. Register your interest here.
