Kite Packaging, the UK’s premier supplier of packaging; recently showcased their top-selling Mini Air system at one of the biggest retailing shows of the year – the Autumn Fair. Held at the NEC from Sunday 7th to Wednesday 10th September the show included 1,400 exhibitors and 30,000 buyers and is a must see show for retailers preparing for the Christmas season.
As a packaging supplier Kite sees a significant increase in sales during Q4 as customers prepare for their busy period, as UK spending in December typically goes up by an average of 60% (according to the Centre of Retail Research). With one in five of these goods bought online retailers are keen to look for a universal packaging solution that is cheap, saves space, reduces costs and offers excellent protection to reduce the number of returns.
The Kite Mini Air system has been designed to tick all these boxes, and due to being the cheapest air cushion unit on the UK market at just £599 per machine has seen significant growth since its launch – with 500 units sold in a 6 month period. The system also comes with its own air cushions which are also highly competitive, and have shown a potential 84% saving in void fill costs when compared with traditional materials. Environmental credentials have also been cited when comparing the impact of manufacturing large bags of polystyrene chips to flat air bag film, a great incentive for businesses in the current climate.
The machine was showcased at the show along with some new accessories which have recently launched on Kite’s website; this includes stands to allow the machine to run air cushions continuously and baskets to collect the air cushions for use around the warehouse operation and packing line. Kite Packaging’s experienced team were also be on hand to offer advice to customers about their general packaging requirements, and gain more information about improving efficiency to their packing lines in the run up to Christmas.
